1. Acceptance of Terms

By visiting encyclopediabotannica.com, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you don't agree, please don't use the site. That's it -- no gotchas.

These terms apply to all visitors, regardless of whether you're browsing the encyclopedia, checking out what's in stock, or just here because a plant is dying and you need answers fast.

2. Use of This Website

You're welcome to use this site for personal, non-commercial purposes. That means browsing, learning, saving plant care info for yourself, and (soon) buying plants.

You may not:

• Copy or republish our plant care guides, photos, or written content without permission
• Use automated tools (scrapers, bots) to extract content from the site
• Attempt to interfere with or disrupt the site's operation
• Use the site for any unlawful purpose

We reserve the right to block access if we have good reason to believe these terms are being violated.

3. Product Descriptions and Pricing

We work hard to keep product listings accurate, but plants are living things and the internet isn't perfect.

Pricing

All prices shown are in US dollars and are subject to change without notice. The price at the time of your order is what you pay -- if it changes after that, the difference isn't on you.

Plant appearance

Photos show representative specimens. The actual plant you receive may differ in size, color, shape, or fullness. Plants vary naturally, and that's part of what makes them interesting. We do not ship specific individual plants unless explicitly stated.

Availability

"In Stock" status reflects our best current knowledge. If a plant sells out between when you see it and when you try to order it, we'll let you know.

Plant care information

Our care guides are written from genuine experience and reputable sources. They're meant to be helpful, not a guarantee. Plants don't read care guides -- results will vary based on your environment, soil, water quality, and light.

4. Checkout Not Yet Available

Online checkout is coming soon. Right now, the shop shows our current inventory and pricing so you can see what we carry and plan ahead.

When checkout goes live, you'll be able to order directly through the site. Until then, if you want to purchase something, reach out to us directly through the contact page.

We'll update these terms when checkout is available.

5. Intellectual Property

Everything on this site -- the plant care guides, photos, copy, logo, layout, and the name Encyclopedia Botannica -- belongs to us unless otherwise noted.

You're welcome to reference our content for personal use. If you want to share something, link back to us. If you want to reproduce content for a publication, commercial use, or anything else beyond casual personal use, ask first.

The encyclopedia content is written by us and reflects our own research, experience, and voice. It is not in the public domain.

6. User Conduct

If the site ever adds user-generated content (reviews, comments, etc.), these rules apply:

• Don't post anything false, misleading, harassing, or illegal
• Don't impersonate other people or businesses
• Don't post spam or unsolicited promotions
• Content you submit may be removed at our discretion

We're a small plant shop. We're not looking for legal trouble, and we don't expect you are either. Be reasonable.

7. Disclaimer of Warranties

This site and its content are provided "as is." We make no warranties, express or implied, about:

• The accuracy or completeness of any information on the site
• The availability of the site at any given time
• That the site will be free of errors or interruptions

Plant care advice is general guidance, not professional horticultural consultation. We're not liable if your monstera still won't grow a new leaf despite everything you've tried.

8. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Encyclopedia Botannica will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of this site or any products purchased through it.

Our total liability for any claim related to this site or a purchase will not exceed the amount you paid for the product in question -- or, if you haven't bought anything, zero dollars.

Nothing in these terms limits liability for fraud, gross negligence, or anything that can't be legally excluded.

9. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Ohio, without regard to conflict of law provisions. Any disputes will be handled in the courts of Franklin County, Ohio.

If you're outside Ohio, you agree that Ohio law applies regardless.

10. Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. When we do, we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top. If we make a significant change, we'll try to make it obvious.

Continued use of the site after a change means you accept the updated terms. If you don't agree with a change, stop using the site.
